Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, Sangli
Established in the year 2005 at Sangli, Maharashtra, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College is aimed at delivering quality healthcare education, research training facilities to the medical fraternity. The mission of the inception of the medical institute and the hospital was to deliver inexpensive and top of the line medical care to its users. The institution was granted University status by UGC. Different medical degree and diploma courses are approved by National Medical Commission or NMC, Maharashtra Human Resource Development, World Health Organization or WHO and Central Council of Indian Medicine. Students receive exposure and an opportunity to develop skills in medicine by virtue of the multiple national and international affiliations of the medical college. Medical institution got “A Grade” accreditation by NAAC India for its painstaking teaching and research practices. BVDU is a partner of Association of Commonwealth Universities and Association of Indian Universities.
Admission Procedure of the Medical College
The institution is known for courses and specializations in Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Forensic Medicine, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy and Psychiatry, etc. Duration of 5.5 years MBBS course along with one year internship duration is determined by earlier academic record and performance in Common Entrance Test (CET). The minimum required marks (50% in Biology and Chemistry, Physics, and English in the higher secondary level examination and NEET qualified for admissions into the undergraduate medical courses. It is scholarship that is awarded to the brightest students according to their academic track record in past studies and the CET. The lower limit for the age of students in the field of medicine is 17 years old, on or date of enrolment. At present, the authority of the college to enroll normal 150 students per annum of the MBBS course by NMC has been given. Seats are allocated to NRI/NRI sponsored/foreign nationals to the extent of 15%.
Academic and Practical Training Methods
Mentoring in teaching and training is similar to that laid down by international standards. Intensive and extensive exposures of students in any undergraduate and postgraduate course of study are highlighted. Rigorous practice according to NMC points is carried out with educative lectures, CPR training modules, introduction to intensive care medicine and pain, Anesthesiology clinic, performance procedural training in Operation Theatres and Intensive Care Units. Interactive tutorials, case study presentations, brainstorming sessions, problem-solving skills training exercises are all included in the training. Regularly conferences and seminar (integrated and inter-departmental), national and international workshops are organized. Research on modern medicine and operations is not overlooked. Periodic internal examinations are performed for evaluating the knowledge and practice of medical processes of the student.
Infrastructural Facilities
The 500-bedded college-affiliated teaching hospital and research centre are provided with super-specialized, digitalized laboratories and 11 operation theatre for investigation of a wide range of field in Pathology, Pharmacology, Orthopedics, Radio Diagnosis, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Anaesthesia etc. The Sangli campus is equipped with spacious classrooms, well-furnished libraries and museums, upgraded computer labs, internet connectivity, computer/audio-visual-aided seminar halls, an auditorium, community halls, sports complex, hostel and mess facilities, cultural section, ATM, and several other facilities to provide sophisticated educational services to students. Trainability and facilities available at the college are very much judged by the worldwide excellent results achieved by the students of the college.
Faculty and Fees Structure
The faculty is made up by eminent practitioners in the field of medicine who are actively participating in all types of intensive and progressive research and development in modern medicine and the current stage of surgical performance in the hi-tech college laboratory equipment. The majority of the faculty are well-known specialists in the pre-Clinical, para Clinical and Clinical fields. Digitalized laboratories are fully equipped to carry out a wide array of investigations by means of Radiography, CT scan, Automated Analyzers, MRI, Haematology Counters, Ultra-sonography, Color Doppler, ABG Machines and so on. The department of medicine has a large number of research papers and journals in different medical literature, both nationally and internationally. The annual tuition fee for MBBS is Rs. 17,30,000, which is an approximation, and is subject to variation according to the decisions of the college authority.
