Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College was established in the year 1989, at Pune, Maharashtra to offer quality healthcare education, research and training facilities to the medical practitioners in the nation.The aim and the vision of the institution of medicine and the hospital was to deliver an affordable, and highly expertise health facility to the patients. The institution was granted University status by UGC. The different medical degree and diploma courses are listed by the importantNational Medical Commission/NMC, Maharashtra Human Resource Development, World Health Organization/WHO and Central Council of Indian Medicine. Through national and international memberships of the medical college, the medical students are afforded global exposure and a venue for the practice of medicine. The medical institution has received ‘A Grade’ accreditation from NAAC India due to its rigorous faculty teaching and research standards. BVDU is affiliated to Association of Commonwealth Universities and Association of Indian Universities.

Admission Procedure of the Medical College

The college is well known for its education programs with different options of specializations, in the fields of Medicine, Surgery and related fields such as Orthopedics, Forensic Medicine, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Anatomy and Psychiatry, and so on. The duration of clinical training followed by internship of 5 and a half years including 1 year internship, has both the academic record and Common Entrance Test (CET) qualification as the ground for it. Students are required to have a minimum of 50 marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in higher secondary examination as well as NEET Qualified to apply for undergraduate medical courses. Scholarships are offered for the academically excellent students according to their past academic, as well as CET, performance. The lower limit of age for an undergraduate medical student must be 17 years, on or before the year of enrollment. The number of students can be admitted per year to the college for MBBS courses is allowed by the NMC upto 250 students per year. Seats reserved for NRI/NRI sponsored nrn foreign nationals represent 15% of total seats.

Academic and Practical Training Methods

Mentoring in teaching and trade and craft methods are as good as those of other countries. Intensive and thorough exposures of students during any undergraduate and post graduate studies are highlighted. NMC guidelines motivated rigourous practice, which is learnt through educative lectures, CPR training units, primer session on intensive care medicine and pain, Anesthesiology clinic, procedural training in Operation Theatres and Intensive care units. Interactive tutorials, case study presentations, brain-storming sessions, problem solving skills training, are all part of the curriculum. Regular integrated and interdepartmental conferences and seminars along with national and international workshops are carried out. Clinical medicine and surgical interventions have significant research focus. As a part of medical process understanding and its application, the internal questions are regularly administered to the students for evaluation of their knowledge.

Infrastructural Facilities

The college-attached 850-bed teaching hospital and research institute having super-specialized, computerized departments and 18 operation theaters are used for diversified investigations of Pathology, Pharmacology, Orthopedics, Radio Diagnosis, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Anaesthesia and other departments. The green campus, located at, Pune, has the facilities of spacious lecture Halls, well-equipped libraries Museum, updated computer lab, internet access, audio-visual aided seminar halls, auditorium, community centre, sports complex, hostel, mess, cultural centre, ATM, etc., for dissemination of high-quality educational services to the students.The quality of training and the infrastructural facility available at the college has been indicated from the world-class performances of the college students.

Faculty and Fees Structure

The teaching faculty are world-renowned medical researchers who actively participate in numerous intensive and prolonged research studies in modern medicine and current surgical techniques in the hi-tech college laboratories. Most of the faculty are recognized experts in their fields by immersion in Pre-Clinical, Para Clinical and Clinical areas.The digitally equipped laboratories are equipped with facilities that provide for the radiographic, Computed Tomographic, Mammographic, Magnetic Resonant, Ultra-sonographic, Color Doppler and Renal Dialysis Machine investigations. The department of medicine is publishing various research articles and journals in different medical publications, domestically and globally. The annual tuition fee for MBBS is Rs. 18,30,000 (approximately) which may vary depending on the decisions of the college authorities.
