KIEMS was founded in the year 1980 at Banashankari 2nd Stage , Bangalore with the aim to deliver quality healthcare education, research and training facilities to healthcare professionals with a view to tackle the growing health challenges of the population. All other medical degree courses have been accredited by the National Medical Commission or NMC and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Passing candidates receive medical license and diplomas from these two administrative bodies. Many students have received training and tutoring from the college and are clinically well-established medical professionals, working in all parts of the world. Postgraduate courses in different disciplines have been available since 1991-1992 at the college (for example). The college has been ranked No. And also 24 by ‘The Mint’, medical journal of The Wall Street Journal, to more than 275 medical colleges of India.

Admission Procedure of the Medical College

The college is famous for its courses and specializations in the field of Medicine, Surgery, Physiotherapy, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Obstetrics and Gynecology etc. Admission to a 5 and a half years’ MBBS course (which includes one year internship) is done on the basis of students’ performance in CET/COMED-K Entrance Test and academic record. Scholarships are awarded to excellent students, which are recognized and established based on the past academic records and entrance examination results of students. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 50 marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English at higher secondary examination and MCC qualified to take admission into undergraduate medical courses. The lower limit of a student should be 17 years old on December 31 for all undergrad courses. If you are a resident in other states than Karnataka, you will be required to obtain an eligibility certificate from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Total number of available seats is 150.

Academic and Practical Training Methods

Mentoring for learning and practical training practices are as good as any international good. Intensive exposure of students in undergraduate and postgraduate studies is stressed. Strict practice as per the NMC and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences guidelines is being done with the help of instructive lectures, CPR training, and intensive care medicine and pain, Anesthesiology clinic, Performance procedural training in Operation Theatres Intensive Care Units. Interactive tutorials, case study presentations, brainstorming sessions, problem-solving skills trainings are all offered at the curriculum. Integrated and inter-departmental conferences and seminars are conducted regularly. Recent developments in medicine and surgical practice are not neglected.

Infrastructural Facilities Offered

The college-affiliated hospital was established in 1990. It has super-specialty labs and operation theaters for conducting wide range of investigations on the fields of Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Forensic Post-mortem, Ophthalmology, Community Medicine, Preventive Medicine etc. The college hospital is well equipped with various sophisticated and advanced sophisticated technological equipment and treatment options, and 810 beds with critical care units. The building of the college is quite capable of feeling proud of its attractive architecture, designed administrative area, and other“state-of-the-art†departments. Well-equipped lecture halls, language labs, well-stocked library, up-to-date computer laboratories, Internet facility, seminar hall, auditorium, community center, sports complex, hostel and mess, cultural activity center, ATM and other facilities to facilitate the diffusion of cutting-edge educational services. There is a WEB OPAC facility in the library and more than 10000 reference books and journals.
