Established in 1984 in Karad, Maharashtra, Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences University offers high quality healthcare education, research and training facilities to medical community. It was the intention of the conception of the medical institute and the hospital to deliver care at a reasonable and expert level at an accessible level. Medical, Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy and Biotechnology undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as doctoral studies have been provided at the medical college since its foundation, 29 years ago. Different medical degree and diploma courses are acknowledged by National Medical Commission or NMC, World Health Organization or WHO and Malaysian Medical Council. By virtue of the students’ multiple national and international attachments to the medical college, the medical students have access to a wide globalization of the medical school as well as to a practice for medicine. The college had received Deemed University status by UGC under Section 3 and NMC.
Admission Procedure of the Medical College
The college is famous for its courses in medicine, surgery, community medicine, physiology, pathology, cardiology, plastic surgery, microbiology, anatomy, and pharmacology, etc. Candidates are required to have a minimum of 50% marks in the subject of biology, chemistry, physics and English for higher secondary examination and NEET qualified, for admission in undergraduate medical course. The applicant should be 17 years old or older on or before July 1st, of the admission year. Scholarship is given to high grade pupils, in form of scholarship, based on past academic marks. General merit candidates are allowed to apply for 80% of the available seats in the college. Total numbers of available seats for MBBS are 150.
Academic and Practical Training Methods
Methods of mentoring in education and practical training are similar to international norms. Concentrated and serial exposures in students in any undergraduate and postgraduate course are highlighted. At the behest of NMC, intensive practice is carried out by means of enlightening lectures, CPR training, introduction to intensive care medicine and pain, Anesthesiology clinic, procedural training in Operation Theatres and Intensive Care Units. Interactive tutorials, case study presentations, brainstorming sessions, problem solving skills training, etc., are also included in the curriculum. Integrated and inter-departmental meetings, national and international seminars and workshops are held routinely. Research in present medicine and surgical interventions is also given a proper weight. Periodic internal examinations are performed to evaluate the students’ knowledge and practice of medical process[es].

The teaching hospital, run by the college, attached to a multi specialty, 1100 bedded institution, equipped with super specialized digitalized laboratories and operation theaters to address a spectrum of investigation in the fields of Genetic Disorders, Critical Care, Dialysis, Radiodiagnosis, Thalassemia, HCV, Anaesthesiology, etc.Ample lecture halls, well equipped libraries, advanced computer labs, Internet facilities, audio-visually assisted seminar halls, auditorium, community centres, sports complex, hostel and mess facility, modern and well equipped museums, cultural activity centre, beauty parlor, ATM and many more, provides facilities to disseminate world-class educational services to the students. Faculty and Fees Structure
The staff consists of highly acclaimed medical doctors, who are actively engaged in numerous intensive and extensive research and development projects within modern medicine as well as a unique Lead Referral Laboratory located in the college campus, and the latest surgical procedures. The majority of the academic faculty are internationally recognized experts in their field within Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical and Clinical fields. Radiography, CT scan, mammography, MRI scan, ultra-sonography and many other tests can be performed in the digitalized laboratories. Research papers and journals are available through the Department of Medicine in a variety of medical publications, both nationally and internationally. Significant research and service has been put in place for Dushene’s Muscular Dystrophy, HPV, Breast and Cervical Cancer, FMT, Microbiology, and more. The annual tuition fee for MBBS is Rs. 19,50,000 (approximately), which will change depending on the approval from the college administration.
