The KS Medical Academy was founded in 1999, in Mangalore, Karnataka for the delivery of quality healthcare education, research and training facilities to upcoming medical students. Different medical degree and diploma courses are accredited to the National Medical Commission or NMC. It is affiliated to NITTE University. Passing candidates are given medical degrees and diplomas issued by NMC and NITTE. The college is NAAC accredited with Grade “A,” and NITTE has been also declared as “A” category Deemed University by Ministry Of Human Resource Department, GOI. A tertiary care tertiary care facility owned by the college takes care of the poor and downtrodden.
Admission Procedure of the Medical College
The university is well-known as having international-standard-comparable courses and specializations in Medicine, Surgery, Forensic Medicine, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Community Medicine, Physiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, etc. Admission to 5 and a half years’ MBBS course, including a compulsory one year’s Rotating Internship training, is on the basis of the past academic records and minimum of 50% marks in All India NU UGET Entrance Test. Students are required to obtain minimum 50 marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in higher secondary examination and must also pass NEET to get admission in undergraduate medical courses. The minimum age of a student is 17 years on December 31st, in MBBS admission year. The examination in Pre-University Course (having the status of Recognition by NITTE) must be confirmed. Every year, the college takes the students of MBBS course upto 150 students with the view of NMC.
Academic and Practical Training Methods
Mentoring for education and vocational training is similar to any international benchmark. Attention is given to both intensive and extensive exposures of students at any undergraduate and postgraduate level. Meticulous practice, according to the NMC and NITTEU guidelines, is carried out through intellectual lectures, presentation on intensive care medicine and pain, Anesthesiology clinic, procedural training on Operation Theatres and Intensive care Units. Interactive tutorials and case study rollouts, intensive-thinking workshops and problem-solving-skills training are also on the curriculum. Integrated and inter-departmental conferences and seminars are conducted regularly. Implicitly included in the curriculum are national and international workshops and internal assessment.
Infrastructural Facilities Offered
The teaching hospital with a bed capacity of 1200 beds affiliated with the college is provided with super-specialised, digitalized laboratories which has 12 operation theatres to cater to various investigations under the various disciplines of Pathology, Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacology, Anesthesiology, Medicine and Forensic Medicine etc. The hospital is equipped id a variety of hi-tech medical machines e.g., MRI Scan, C-arm with IITV, Dialysis unit, Mammography, Spiral CT Scan etc. Spacious hi-tech lecture halls, department-specific well-equipped library, modernized computer labs, Internet connectivity, department-specific seminar halls and Museums that have many specimen, Central Research Laboratory and departmental All department level research laboratory, sports complex, department-specific modern demonstration room, hostel and mess facilities, canteen, gymnasium, animal house, cultural activity centre, ATM and many more to fulfil the dissemination of state-of-the-art educational services to students. The College tries to promote an integral description of medical teaching and its practice, in rural and urban settings. A wide range of extra-curricular, literary, cultural and sports activities make it a policy to promote all-round student development. Centre for Counseling of Students and Anti-Ragging Cell provides very focused treatment and management of students’ functioning, and that of the college.

The faculty comprises high-achieving medical specialists, all of whom are actively engaged in numerous/intense/extensive research of modern medicine and modern surgical techniques in the upgraded, multi-specialty and speciality-specific college laboratories. The majority of the professors are well-recognized experts in their own Pre-Clinical, Para Clinical and Clinical fields. The department of medicine has a steady stream of publication, research papers, and journals in multiple fields of medical publication, both nationally and internationally. The annual tuition fee for MBBS is Rs. 14,35,000 (approximately), which may vary depending on the decisions of the college authority and NITTEU.
