Mahadevappa Medical College
Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College is named from its founders and designer Sri. Mahedavappa Rampure. It is run by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and also set up during year 1963 in Gulbarga, Karnataka. It happened to be the 2nd private degree college in India to be accredited by National Medical Commission, and the British Medical College, etc. Over time, the infrastructure of the college has been developed to provide high level medical care to the patients, and knowledge to the students.
Different Courses Offered
The university offers graduate and postgraduate degrees in medical sciences to students. Postgraduate courses are available in eighteen preclinical and para-clinical subjects. There is also a limited number of certificate courses for Laboratory technician, optician, radiographer and refractions. All these courses are recognized by NMC. There are two hospitals affiliated with the college, which are also used for clinical teaching purposes. The total bed strength is over 700. Different departments are equipped with advanced equipment, and staff are trained to handle different patients at times of emergency.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission
To register for MBBS course, candidate must have a minimum of 50% marks obtained in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English marks in the higher secondary exam and NEET Cut off rank to be eligible for any undergraduate medical courses. It is required that students have one of English compulsory subjects. Candidates have to be 17 years old on or before 31 December if the same academic year of entry. Admission of applicants is done on the basis of their merit and is performed on the basis of cut-off marks of COMED-K and CET. MBBS has a total seat availability of 150 and a course duration of 5.5 years. To be admitted to MD or MS programme a MBBS degree from a NMC approved college or university is mandatory.
Annual Fee Structure
Overall fee for an academic year amounts to Rs. 7,00,000. Such expenses include tuition and fees for education as well as other miscellaneous expenses. There are well-equipped libraries of the college, namely for undergraduate course and also one for pot graduate course. These libraries contain various national and international medical journals, eBooks, audio-video aids, computers with internet connection and photostat machine.
Other Facilities for Students
There are separate hostels for accommodating boys and girls. It is also possible for students to engage in other recreational activities. There is a fully equipped department that contains indoor and outdoor play. Internet facilities are provided free of cost through Canteens supplied with Wifi to students. As the college has its own fleet of bus, the students are not facing the issue of transportation.
