Panoramic view medical college& research hospital started in 2001 at Bangalore, Karnataka state to training, education research and development of quality health science education, research and training facilities for the next generation of medical healthcare providers. The college is a constituent institution of the registered Venkatasha Education Society. The vision for the creation of the medical institute and hospital was to offer affordable high quality professional medical education and medical treatment facilities. The different medical undergraduate, 12 post graduate degree, and 6 post graduate diploma courses have validation from the National Medical Commission or NMC and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences or RGUHS. The hospital attached to the college offers all-round health care services to the destitute. The institution has received the prestigious ISO 9001-2008 certification.
Admission Procedure of the Medical College
The college is highly recognized for its high-quality curriculum with international standards courses having different specializations in Medicine, Surgery, Orthopedics, Radiology, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Pulmonary, ENT, Pediatrics, etc. Entrance to the 5.5 year MBBS course, including 1 year compulsory rotating internship is decided on the basis of the previous academic records. Candidates should possess minimum 50 marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in higher secondary examination and also NEET qualified to apply for admission to the undergraduate medical program. The minimum age of the student in MBBS admission year shall be 17 years on or before December 31st. The Pre-University Course examination and eligibility certificate for admission has to be recognized by RGUHS and Association of Indian Universities or AIU B.Sc. Graduates with at least two of the Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany and Zoology courses are also eligible to enroll. Migration of one College of Medicine to another is generally not permitted and ultimately lies at the discretion of NMC, in rare circumstances. The maximum number of seats for undergraduate MBBS course is 150.
Academic and Practical Training Methods
Methods for mentoring in education and practical training settings are analogous to best practice in any other developed country. Excessive and extreme exposures of students during any undergraduate and postgraduate education are highlighted. By the rules of NMC and RGUHS careful practice is carried out by means of intellectual lectures, presentation of intensivist care including pain medicine and Anesthesiology clinic, performance of procedural training in Operation Theatres and Intensive Care Units. Interactive tutorials, case study sharing, intensive-thinking workshops, problem-solving skill training are all on the docket. Integrated and inter-departmental conferences and seminars are held on a regular basis.The curriculum contains implicitly included National and international workshops such as [CMEs] and internal assessments.
Infrastructural Facilities Offered
The college-based teaching hospital of 900 beds is provided with super-specialized, digitalized laboratories, 12 operation theatres, and catering to a wide range of investigations in the fields of Dermatology, Surgery, Pediatrics, Orthopedics, Psychiatry, Pulmonary, Radio Diagnosis, ENT, OBG, Anesthesiology and Medicine etc. The hospital has the state-of-the-art treatment infrastructure in intensive care, primary, emergency, air ambulance, etc. Five rooms with large space equipped with audio-visual educational appliances OHP, LCD, Slide Projector, and PA System. Well-equipped department-wise libraries, upgraded computer labs, Internet, department-wise seminar halls, Museums with utility of large number specimens, 3 Central Laboratories and department-wise Academia laboratories, sports complex, more than 500-bed hostel, mess facilities, cafeteria, animal house, cultural activity centre, ATM and many other facilities to ensure disbursement of the world-class education cum services to students. The college as a whole is intended to promote a holistic medical learning and practice, in rural as well as urban settings.
