Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences Research Centre, Mangalore, Karnataka, was set up in the year 2011 to deliver quality healthcare education and conduct high quality research and training activities to the developing medical practitioners. The mission for the establishment of medical institute and hospital was to deliver, at an affordable cost, high tech level of health services delivery. The different medical degree and diploma courses are recognized by the national medical commission or NMC. It is under the affiliation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. Passing candidates are presented with medical certificates and diplomas by NMC and RGUHS. The college affiliated hospital offers one-stop comprehensive health care for the poor.
Admission Procedure of the Medical College
It is the college which possesses international-standards-equal world class courses with many specializations in Medicine, Surgery, Forenc Medicine and other like Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Pathology, Community Medicine, Physiology, Obstetrics and Gynecology and so on. Entry to 5 and a half year MBBS course including one year compulsory rotating internship is on the basis of the previous academic record and Common Entrance Test (CET), KRLMP or CET score. This is followed by Centralized Counseling. Candidates must have a minimum of 50 marks in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English in the higher secondary final examination and score in NEET to pursue the undergraduate medical programmes. The student must be at least 17 years old on December 31, of the MBBS admission year certificate. The Pre-University Course examination has to be admitted by RGUHS. Every year, the college selects 150 students for the MBBS course, according to the guidelines of NMC. 15% of the total seats are reserved for NRI/Foreigner seats.
Academic and Practical Training Methods
Mentoring in academic education and vocational training practices is in line with other international practices. Teaching of intensive and extensive exposures of students in any undergraduate and postgraduate studies are highlighted. Carefully conducted, as per the guidelines of NMC and RGUHS, through intellectual lectures, presentation of intensive care medicine and pain, Anesthesiology clinic, and demonstration of procedural training in Operation theatres and Intensive care units. Interactive tutorials, case study synopsis, intensive-thinking exercises, problem solving skills drills, all feature in the curriculum. Integrated and inter-departmental conferences and seminars are conducted regularly. Natrualistic and interntional workshops and internal tests are organically into the curriculum.
Infrastructural Facilities Offered
The college-uniquely affiliated teaching hospital is furnished with super-specialised, digitalized laboratories and operation theatres with a view to cater the investigation in Pathology, Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacology, Anesthesiology, Medicine, Forensic Medicine and so on. Well-equipped department-specific computer laboratory, department-specific seminar halls with museum facilities dedicated to exhibition of various specimens, Central Research Laboratory and Department of scientific laboratories equiped all over the campus, sports complex, department-specific modernized demonstration rooms, hostel and mess facilities, canteen, gymnasium, animal house and cultural activity center, ATM, and others to fulfil the dissemination of international standard educational services to students. College is aiming at sending out a comprehensive way of medical learning and its application, not only in rural lands, but also in urban centres. The array of out-of-classroom, academic, and cultural and sports activities all contribute to the holistic development of the students. The Student Welfare Cell, Student Counseling Centre and Anti-Ragging Cell provide meticulous care and management for suitable functioning of students and the college.
Faculty and Fees Structure
Faculty comprises leading medical professionals, which participate in, frequently, in intensive and broad clinical research projects in modern medicine and currently relevant surgical procedures in the updated, multi-specialty and laboratory-specific college laboratories. [M] The pre-clinical, para clinical and clinical disciplines are represented by all of the professors who are internationally well known specialists in their areas of work. In the first time in Karnataka, 4D Ultra Sound Scan facility is available in the college-hospital with many other modern instrumentations and diagnostic machineries. A number of research articles and journals are available from the department of medicine on a national and international scale in the form of medical publications. The annual tuition fee for MBBS is Rs. More or less, 1,10,000, same to be adjusted as per the decision of the college administration and RGUHS.
