Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Subharti Medical College (Faculty of Medical Sciences) is the model of academic excellence, healthcare programmes and philanthropic activities. The college is a significant constituent of the duly constituted Subharti University, a Government Registered University. The college is a constituent unit of Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital, both units being in a large campus, Meerut. The hospital is one of the largest in and in the suburbs of the city, containing departments in Medicine, Dermatology, Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology, Opthalmology, etc. The highly specialized modern infrastructure, the distinguished faculty, and the rigorous academic screening and education process all work together to produce, on an annual, superbly skilled and equipped medical professionals.
Admission Procedure of the Medical College
Students are evaluated through entrance examinations organized by the Subharti University of Entrance Test (SUET) or SUET. UPCAT-BDS, UPCAT-MDS, UPCMET-MBBS, UPPGMET-MD are the, entrance tests that future medical students need to pass, depending on the future specializations they are aspiring to pursue in medicine. Courses are accredited to the National Medical Commission (NMC). A candidate could also be chosen by the previous academic history and then a spot examination by the college and an interview. Age 17 at the end of admission year is a condition for admission.
Academic and Practical Training Methods
Subharti Medical College provides strong academic and clinical training to undergraduates, postgraduates, OT technicians, Paramedical crew, B.Sc. Nursing and others. Intensive practice, in accordance with guidelines of NMC, is carried out via didactic lectures, CPR training, an introduction to intensive care medicine and pain, Anaesthesia clinics, performance of procedural training in Operation Theatres and Intensive Care Units. Interactive tutorials, presentation of case studies, brainstorming sessions, problem solving skills training, etc., are also included in the program. Integrated and inter-departmental conferences and seminars are conducted regularly. The most common objective structured clinical examination OSCE or OSPE is used for the evaluation of postgraduate students performance.
Infrastructural Facilities Offered
The medical department manages and regulates 20 operation theatres and 3 emergency operation theatres. Modern Anaesthetic Workstation including BIS and invasive hemodynamic monitoring system, laryngoscope, and technologically advanced monitor in MRI room, essential airway management devices, Ozone generator machine and other super-specialized infrastructure are easily accessible. The college also regularly offers CPR courses and BLS/ACLS workshops. Academic training is given by the use of different hi-tech audio-visual aids such as LCD, OHP, electronic blackboard, etc. There is a dedicated laboratory equipped for each of the departments of medicine, computer lab equipped with CDs and Internet, and a library equipped with the latest journals and publications.
Faculty and Fees Structure
Faculty of Subharti Medical College is made up of experienced physicians who regularly engage in different intensive research works in the basic modern medicine areas of the college laboratory. One of the most striking features is that almost all professors are acclaimed researchers in theirs specific domain such as Pain and Palliative Medicine, Critical Care, Ozone Therapy, Anaesthesiology, etc. The department of medicine publishes about 15 research articles per year, in many national and international journals. The annual fee for MBBS course is Rs.8,50,000.
